BERLIN – A robot has killed a man who worked as a contractor at one of Volkswagen’s production plants in Germany.  The car manufacturer released the information to the public early today.

The man died at the hands of the robot in the town of Baunatal, which is located near Frankfurt.

Reports indicate the man was 22-years-old and according to VW spokesman Heiko Hillwig, the robot picked the man out from a team.

According to sources, the young man was finishing set-up of the robot and had only just activated it, when suddenly the stationary robot grabbed him and crushed him against a metal plate.  Authorities still have to investigate to find out if human programming or assembly errors are to blame for the tragedy.
